People Who Killed Hausa Men in Rivers Are Not IPOB Members

There is a news going round the net following the killing of two Hausa men in Rivers state. The news has it that the two men were killed by IPOB members.

In a recent update, the Police in Rivers State has debunked the news to be misinformating stating that they killers of the two Hausa men are not members of IPOB rather are Irate youths.

He specifically said that the Irate youths are not IPOB members.

A spokesman for Northern Community in Rivers State, Alhaji Musa Saidu earlier alleged that the killing were done by IPOB members.

Quoting Him:

The suspected IPOB members armed with dangerous weapons attacked an area populated by Hausa indigenes on Saturday and again on Sunday, killing two petty traders while two persons sustained serious injuries.”

Confirming the Incident, Police Public Relations Officer, Rivers Command, SP Nnamdi Omoni said:

We are very much aware of that incident. The only difference with the storyline we have is the labelling of the group as IPOB. That is what we are not in terms with.

“Investigation has been ordered in a bid to unravel identities of those that carried out the act. So for now labelling them IPOB is out of place. In the first place, there is nothing like IPOB.

“IPOB has been proscribed so nobody can operate under the guise of IPOB. IPOB in law is non-existent. What we are saying is that it has no legal backing.”
